Bariatu Under the joint aegis of Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), an awareness programme was organized for students on the occasion of Human Rights Day by the Legal Literacy Club at D.A.V. The objective of this programme was to provide students with information on child protection, human rights of common citizens, constitutional provisions for the development and upliftment of the underprivileged sections of society, and to sensitize them towards human rights. Representatives from the Jharkhand Judicial Services Authority and the District Judicial Services Authority shared information on the statutory provisions related to human rights. Pankaj Sharma introduced students to the Juvenile Justice Act, while Rajesh Kumar Sinha provided information about free legal services. They also gave satisfactory answers to students’ queries on topics such as migrants’ rights, children’s right to maintenance after parental separation, reasons for the indifference in punishing public servants holding prestigious positions even when adequate evidence of wrongdoing exists, and provisions for protection from dowry-related violence. Principal Sanjay Kumar Mishra welcomed the guests and addressed the students, stating that it is essential for us to possess a sense of compassion. Through compassion, we can nurture a feeling of equality towards all of humanity. We must be aware of our fundamental rights so that we can safeguard ourselves and help protect others as well.
